Q Please tell us about BOLSAC.

BOLSAC continues Korean tradition and creates products inspired by nature. Adhering to the traditional method, we aim for small scale hand-made products. We hope that more people will discover the value of slowness through BOLSAC products in their fast-moving daily life.

Q How are Poppy Bags made?

In the 1970s and 1980s, American and European women carried a small bag in gorgeous details. I combined it with a Korean lucky bag. The fabric is organza, used as the hanbok lining, and wood balls are placed on the bag’s handle to add a nature-friendly feel.

Q The colors and designs incorporating nature are impressive.

On the organza fabric, patterns of rape flower fields, rose vines, barberry shrubs, and dandelion puffs were added. I think all colors we see come from nature. Wood balls and drawstrings made of rayon provide a comfortable feeling. The materials representing Korea have become the nature-friendly materials of this bag.

Q What was the most valuable part of the award screening?

During marketing consulting, the advice not to limit targets was the most helpful. When I first sold my product, I spent a lot of time and money targeting specific age groups and consumers. Expanding the target through consulting resulted in the discovery of unexpected consumer segments. I was regretful that I couldn’t think of it from the outset.

Q Please tell us more about your plans.

We are currently building an online mall for international customers. People’s interest in sustainability and eco-friendliness is increasing. This is taken seriously by many brands, including me. We try to use eco-friendly materials in our products. If we can’t reduce consumption, we should produce less harmful things to the environment and the human body.
