Q YOU USED SPECIAL TRADITIONAL KOREAN PAPER FOR PRINTING AND YOUR OWN DEVELOPED DIGITAL RESTORATION TECHNOLOGY?

To recover the state and colors of the paintings when they were originally drawn, experts in each field, including traditional painting, restoration, and revision, gathered for meticulous academic historical research. We could thus develop “digital restoration technology specializing in Korean paintings.” Using this technology, we restored Korean paintings close to their original state. Using high-quality Korean paper, you can enjoy more vivid textures and dark-toned Korean paintings.

Q WHAT DID YOU PAY THE MOST ATTENTION TO WHILE PRODUCING THE PRODUCT?

It was making the packaging eco-friendly. We wanted the packaging to be used as a frame with which one can enjoy looking at the paintings even after the notebook is all used up. We had to go through great lengths and structural research in the process of reassembling and changing the box used to package the notebook into a frame.

Q WHAT WERE YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS DURING YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST?

It was the day of our second screening, during which we faced general judges for the first time. We had showcased our product to expert judges many times, but it was our first time facing general judges, and we were quite tense. It was so also because it was the first time we faced consumers offline. I recall how we deliberated so much on how to place our product to draw more attention and impress.

Q WHICH PIECE OF ADVICE YOU RECEIVED FROM THE JUDGES DO YOU RECALL THE MOST?

The favorable evaluation of a judge that consumers could enjoy looking at Korean paintings even after using up the notebook was quite memorable. We had hoped to make the product so that cultural heritage is enjoyed and cherished beyond simply its design factor, and he precisely pointed that out.

Q WHAT DID YOU SUPPLEMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST?

We translated the descriptions of the paintings used in the product into ten languages, including Korean and English. Consumers can listen to experts’ explanations using the QR code on the notebook and see the paintings before and after their restoration. We hope that more people will take interest in Korean paintings thanks to the product.
