Q WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF PRODUCING THE PRODUCT?

It was difficult to transform the regional story into game elements. However, we composed the overall game, including the special cards, pawns, and board, with the region’s history and culture based on the key value of “delivering information through a fun game.” The special cards with situations that one could experience while traveling in Daegu written and the pawns looking like the duck boats on Suseongmot Lake are some of the examples.

Q WHAT DID YOU GET TO SUPPLEMENT THROUGH THE CONTEST?

We got to build the “will to produce” among the in-house members. The doubts we had before advancing into the market, such as the sales point differentiating it from other existing board games, the meaningfulness of the content, and product price, completely dissipated after winning the award. We gained much strength internally, and this provided the driving force to produce a follow-up series.

Q WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS?

We plan to upgrade and complete the edition by further working on it. We also plan to study other cities to produce other series and fully produce promotional content.

Q WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON DAEGU CITY?

The “Daegu Edition of Daedongyeogido” started with Bansa employees working in Daegu and each telling stories of memorable places in the city.We selected Daegu as the first city of the game to look into its new aspects while traveling around this familiar city through a game.

Q WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF DAEDONGYEOGIDO COMPARED TO “BLUE MARBLE?”

The key aspect that distinguishes Daedongyeogido is that it delivers cultural information and encourages tourism. It helps players indirectly experience the culture and history of a tourist site through the game and, thus, encourages the players to personally visit it. In addition, general paper instead of synthetic resin was used, and the pawns were made of silicon material without any harmful components to make sure the product is eco-friendly and safe.

Q WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE YOU RECEIVED FROM THE JUDGES DO YOU RECALL THE MOST?

It was about its transformation into educational content. The advice to make the game more educational and fun so that lower-grade elementary school students can enjoy and build pride and affection for the city was quite inspirational. This would also help further clarify the sales target and promote the product.
