1. Tell us about Nature scent.

Nature scent was founded to research the effects and benefits of rose extracts. Starting with roses, we are a custom fragrance solution company aiming to mix and match the fragrances of all the world’s unfamiliar flowers.

2. Why did you choose mugunghwa among numerous flowers?

As a perfumer, I have worked extensively with many ingredients for Western flowers such as roses and lavender, but suddenly, I became curious about the scent of mugunghwa, the national flower of Korea. Since domestic mugunghwa typically has a faint scent and is rarely used in fragrant products, I wanted to restore its scent. During our research, we discovered that despite being the national flower, there are few folk paintings of mugunghwa left. So, we collaborated with illustrator Kim Bu-min to restore the folk paintings of mugunghwa from the Joseon Dynasty to develop mugunghwa sachets.

3. Were there any difficulties in making the mugunghwa fragrance?

The hardest part was researching and developing the mugunghwa scents. The scent is very faint in domestic varieties, making it difficult to replicate. We aimed to create a fragrance that resembles the scent of the natural mugunghwa, while embodying Korean images and values. After many attempts, we successfully created a scent fitting for the image of mugunghwa.

4. I heard that there’s something you wish to convey through your award-winning product.

By owning and using mugunghwa sachets, we want people to experience traditional beauty and precious cultural values, thereby spreading the charm of mugunghwa worldwide
