1. Tell us about Geochang yugi.

Geochang yugi is a bronzeware workshop that has been in the family for four generations and over 100 years and was the first organic workshop to receive both the Presidential Award and the Prime Minister’s Award. We also have a history of over 50 awards and recognitions as excellent craft products.

2. What inspired the creation of the Golden Apple?

We wanted to create a bowl like a gift, embodying Geochang’s famous apples in bronzeware. The positive image of the fruit is expressed in luxurious gold, creating an apple-shaped set that is both practical and beautiful as an objet d’art. We also wanted to showcase that yugi is not limited to traditional forms.

3. Were there any challenges in creating the products?

Shaping the apple and making it into yugi was a huge challenge. Creating the silhouettes of the apples and representing the details of the apple stem and leaves were some of the biggest challenges.

4. What aspect of the award-winning product do you want to highlight the most?

We want to emphasize that you can meet Geochang’s famous apples as a golden yugi. All three sizes can be used for various purposes as tableware. We hope you’ll give your loved ones this apple as a gift symbolizing a fruit of abundance.

5. What did you learn from the contest, and do you have any stories you’d like to share?

First of all, we are very happy to win in the competition. Next year, we would like to rechallenge by making a variety of products that are more familiar and accessible in terms of unit price and popularity, in both premium and standard lines. We are grateful for all your help during the contest.

6. What can we expect from you in the future?

We’d like to create additional matching plates or dessert cutlery for the apple, to complete a harmonious set.
