1. What kind of brand is ‘Onbleep’?

Onbleep is a smart jewelry brand that combines the convenience of wearable devices with the beauty of accessories. Utilizing metal materials and NFC technology, we plan to expand into various fields, including transportation, payments, and security.

2. What inspired the development of a transit card integrated into a metal ring?

We got the idea for the transit card ring after seeing tourists struggling to find their transit cards in their bags or wallets. Reflecting the increased interest in Hangul due to the global popularity of K-culture, we decided to engrave regional dialects of the phrase "Welcome" onto the rings. Through this product, we wanted to highlight that Korea has diverse tourist destinations beyond just Seoul.

3. What aspect did you focus on the most in developing the transit card ring?

We wanted the product to be a souvenir that could be used continuously, rather than just a one-time use item. Therefore, we focused on designing a ring that could be worn comfortably during and after travel in everyday life. In terms of detail, we utilized metal type techniques to engrave Hangul on the surface of the ring, ensuring that the letters were sized appropriately for clear expression.

4. What challenges were there during the production process?

We had many concerns about incorporating Korean elements into the ring. Since we are working on a small surface area, we wanted to convey Korean culture as ffectively as possible, which required extensive research into Hangul and various regional dialects. Additionally, since the ring contains NFC technology, there were many limitations in the physical implementation process. Balancing the design elements while ensuring good wearability was a challenging process.

5. There must have been memorable moments during the contest as well.

Checking the announcement of the evaluation results were the most memorable. Each time we passed the first, second, and third round, I felt proud that the message we aimed to convey through our product was being recognized, and I was very grateful for the acknowledgment of our product's potential.

6. What are your future plans and goals?

We plan to create rings that incorporate other elements of Korean culture other than Hangul. Additionally, we are continuously expanding our product line by launching various designs of jewelry alongside tourist souvenirs. Currently, we only produce silver rings, but we are also developing affordable products with other materials. In the future, we aim to hold offline pop-up stores or exhibitions to connect with a wider range of consumers.
